Can one address do everything?
Usually not. A virtual mailbox is great for mail but is a CMRA address, which banks and Stripe often flag during verification. A registered agent address only exists for legal and state mail. A leased business address passes verification but costs several times more. Most non-resident founders end up pairing a cheap mailbox with a registered agent, and add a leased address only if a platform pushes back.
Why do banks and Stripe reject virtual mailboxes?
Virtual mailboxes are registered with the USPS as Commercial Mail Receiving Agencies. Verification systems check that database, and a CMRA address reads as 'mail-handling service, not a real operating presence.' It is not personal — it is a database lookup. Is a leased virtual address guaranteed to pass KYC?
No, and be suspicious of anyone who promises it. VirtualPostMail's own TruLease page states it does not guarantee outcomes of your use. A genuine lease removes the CMRA flag, which is the usual blocker, but every bank and platform makes its own call on the whole application.
Do I need my registered agent and my mailing address in the same state?
The registered agent must be in the state where your LLC is formed — that is the legal requirement. Your mailing address can be anywhere. A Wyoming LLC with an agent in Cheyenne and a mailbox in Miami is completely normal.
What is USPS Form 1583?
The authorization form every US mail-receiving service needs before it can accept mail for you. It must be notarized with two forms of ID (iPostal1 states this for its US locations, and VirtualPostMail requires it for TruLease too). Most providers offer online notarization during signup, so it is a speed bump, not a wall.
