What digital nomad insurance actually costs at your age
Insurance prices climb steeply with age, and one of the two big nomad plans bills 13 times a year, not 12. Pick your age band to see the published prices side by side, with honest yearly totals. Every figure was read from the provider's own pricing tool on 2026-07-30 — no estimates, no stale third-party numbers.
Short version
At ages 10-39, SafetyWing Essential is $62.72 per 4 weeks (about $815/year, because 4-weekly billing means 13 charges) and Genki Traveler is €63.90 per month at age 30 (about €767/year, roughly $880 converted). So for under-40s SafetyWing is slightly cheaper; from the 40s up the flip happens and Genki works out lower — by the 60s it is $2,846/year vs about $2,318 converted. The products also differ on limits, deductible, and US coverage. Prices read from the providers' own tools on 2026-07-30.

Insurance cost FAQ
Why does SafetyWing Essential cost more per year than its price suggests?
Essential is billed every 4 weeks, not monthly. A 364-day year has 13 four-week cycles, so the real yearly cost is the sticker price times 13. At ages 10-39 that is $62.72 x 13, about $815 a year, not $62.72 x 12. Genki Traveler bills monthly, so its yearly cost is the sticker price times 12.
Are these quotes?
No. These are the providers' published prices, read from their own pricing tools on the date shown. We are a publisher, not an insurance broker, and we do not give personal insurance advice. Your exact price comes from the provider's own sign-up flow, and the policy wording is the authority on what is covered.
Which one is cheaper?
It flips with age. For ages 10-39, SafetyWing Essential's yearly total (about $815) comes in slightly under Genki Traveler's (about €767, roughly $880 at the ECB rate on our verification date). From the 40s upward Genki works out cheaper, and by the 60s the gap is wide. They are also not the same product: SafetyWing Essential has a US$250,000 limit and some travel perks, while Genki Traveler has a €1,000,000 medical limit with a €50 deductible per case and stricter US/Canada rules. Cheaper is not automatically better for your situation, so compare what each covers.
What about full health insurance instead of travel medical?
SafetyWing Complete is full health insurance (US$1,500,000 limit, routine care, monthly billing with a 12-month commitment) and its published prices run from $177.50 a month at ages 18-39 to $681.50 at 60-64. Genki's full-health product is Genki Native, which prices per person in its own quote flow, so we do not publish a number for it here.
Am I covered in the United States?
Not by default on either. SafetyWing charges extra for US coverage. Genki Traveler covers only the first 7 days of each US or Canada stay, emergencies only, unless you buy its upgrade. If the US is a main destination, price that add-on before comparing.
